Internships are on the rise and have become increasingly more popular among college students. According to Olivia Waxman from Time Magazine, in 2017, over 52 percent of university students took part in an internship, which is a huge difference compared to the 17% in 1992 (Waxman). Internships have proven to be an excellent opportunity for students to gain real-life work experience, develop early skills, and gain job opportunities in fields such as engineering, marketing, business, and I.T development (The New York Times). However, can internships also help students, like myself, in the entrepreneurial field of study? An industry that is typically perceived as solo driven, meaning that us entrepreneurs, employ ourselves and do not rely on already established business for a job. From rags to riches. We have all heard of the astonishing stories of self-made entrepreneurs who built business empires out of nothing. We all have also listened to the incredibly motivational quotes said by successful businessmen and women telling us that as long as we don't give up, we’ll make it in the world someday; we just have to believe in ourselves. However, what they don't tell you, is that millions of young entrepreneurs have to file for bankruptcy every year. So much so, that according to Debt.org, "The number of bankruptcies in the United States has steadily increased over the last century," hitting an all-time high in 2005.

Reflective Statement:
Throughout this course, I have learned a lot about the importance of genres in communication and how to utilize them effectively through rhetorical strategies. To begin with, when I first started this course, I had not realized how many different genres there were available to us, and I also did not fully understand their value when it came to communication. As we progressed through the course, I began to see the vast variety of genres that existed, ranging from photo essays to multigenre projects. Also, most importantly, I began to notice their value in these genres. I realized that when you are trying to reach a certain audience or trying to present a certain point of view effectively, picking the right genre is a crucial step. Different genres work in different ways and help the writer achieve different things. For example, If I was trying to present a detailed argument to a knowledgeable audience, I would not utilize a photo essay or memo;
